Oak Glen High School’s Lions Club Scholar for November 2024 is Elle Monaco. Elle, 17-year-old senior, is the daughter of Tracy and Vito Monaco Jr. Elle resides in Chester, WV with her parents and her sisters; Hallie and Kaelin.
Elle is a member of Oak Glen’s Key Club, Prom Committee, and National Honors Society serving as the Treasurer for the NHS. Elle began playing tennis in her sophomore year for the Oak Glen Tennis Team. A two-year letterer in tennis as a sophomore and Junior. As a junior, Elle earned a regional championship in doubles and earned a trip to the WVSSAC State Tennis in both the team and the doubles division. In addition, she was named as the Wheeling Intelligencer’s All-Valley Tennis first-team last year. Elle enjoys teaching tennis to younger students in her free time. As a sophomore Elle was a graduate of the Weirton Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership Program. She is also completing her second year as a student of the Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher (ECCAT) Program. ECCAT is a career technical course that offers a certification to high school students who complete the course requirements. Elle holds a 4.08 GPA.
Following graduation, Elle plans to attend West Liberty University and will pursue a degree in elementary education.

Tia Vick has been named Oak Glen High School’s Lions Club Scholar for October 2024. Tia is eighteen years old and a member of Oak Glen’s Class of 2025. Tia resides in New Cumberland, WV with her parents, Christina and Jeremy Vick.
Tia is the President of Oak Glen’s National Honor Society. She is also a member of Pep Club, Key Club, the Prom Committee, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and served as the class president for her freshman, sophomore and junior class.
She is a member of the volleyball and basketball team at Oak Glen High School.
After High School she plans to attend West Virginia University and earn her bachelor's degree in nursing, later to become a Nurse Practitioner.

Logan John Hartley, 17, son of Rachael and Lester John Hartley Jr. of New Cumberland, WV, has been chosen as the Oak Glen High School Lions Club Scholar of the Month for September 2024.
During his time at Oak Glen High School, Logan participated in Key Club during his freshman year, Track and Field during his freshman and sophomore years, and ran Cross Country all four years. He also is a part of National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America, the Science Club, and Culture Club.
Since his sophomore year, he has been a part of Oak Glen’s Little Theatre, appearing in shows such as “Clue,” “The Little Mermaid,” “The Addams Family,” and “Charlotte’s Web.” In December, he will be starring in “The Man who Came to Dinner,” as Sheridan Whiteside.
During a week in June this summer Logan was chosen by the Chester American Legion Post 121 and attended the 85th session of American Legion Mountaineer Boys State.
After High School, Logan plans to study Civil Engineering. He is currently undecided as to which college he will be attending.

Preston Cole, 17, Preston is the son of Devon (Tom) Lacey of Newell, WV and Rob (Jodi) Cole of Weirton, WV. Preston is a two-year letter winner in golf, three-year letter winner in soccer with receiving Honorable mention his sophomore year. He was also a four-year member of the basketball team, lettering his sophomore, junior and senior years. During the 2022-2023 season he received 2nd team All-Conference Honors and this year 2023-2024 he received OVAC 2nd Team Honors. He currently is a four-year member of the Oak Glen Baseball team where he has been a letter winner all of those years along with being part of the 2023 WV AA Section Championship team and the Regional Runner Up.
Preston was a Prom Court attendant his junior year, along with being on Sadie’s Court his senior year. He also has had the privilege to participate all 4 years in the Homecoming Olympics. In August of 2018 he received the All-American Golden Glove Award while playing on the All-American Baseball team in Kentucky. Preston’s plans after high school are currently undecided but he is looking into getting his bachelor's degree in PE Education.

Kaylex Gibson, daughter of Miranda Gibson and Aaron Gibson, is the April Lions Club Scholar of the Month. She is an 18-year-old senior at Oak Glen High School.
Kaylex is a two-year member of Oak Glen’s cheerleading team and competition squad. She has been selected to cheer for West Virginia in the 78th Rudy Mumbly All Star Football game on July 20th. She is also a two-year letterman on the Oak Glen tennis team. Her junior year, also her first year, she made it to states in the team, doubles, and singles divisions. Kaylex was runner-up this year at the tennis OVACs in doubles and made it to the semi-finals in singles, leading her team in wins to place the team as runner-up in the 1A-4A division.
She is also a very active member of her school. She is in the Pep Club, Key Club, Prom Committee, and the National Honor Society. She takes many AP courses as well as dual credit classes through West Virginia Northern Community College. In her free time, Kaylex enjoys volunteering as an assistant coach for her sister’s travel volleyball team.
After high school, Kaylex will continue her education in psychology at West Liberty University. She will also be continuing her tennis career on the West Liberty women’s tennis team.

Dakotah Christopher Brown, 18, of New Cumberland WV, is the March 2024 Lions Club Scholar of the Month at Oak Glen High School. He is the son of Karrie and Brian Brown.
Dakotah, a senior at Oak Glen High School, holds a 4.19 GPA and is involved in various sports, programs, and activities. Dakotah is a 3-year letterman in soccer as well as a one-year letterman in cross country and track. He has been on the principal’s honor roll every year along with being enrolled in many college-level courses. He has also been recognized as a distinguished student for his SAT scores and nominated by his peers for the junior prom court.
Dakotah is an active member of several clubs and organizations such as the National Honors Society, Key Club, and Prom Committee. He shows common leadership traits as the treasurer of Oak Glen’s Honors Society and by stepping up for more significant roles within the prom committee. He was also selected to join the Judicial Scholars Program and chosen by his principal to attend the American Legion’s Mountaineer Boys State camp for one week the summer before his senior year.
In his spare time, Dakotah gives back to the community in whatever ways he can such as preparing income tax returns for Oak Glen’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program as well as assisting the Lions Club with their Christmas food drive and hanging town banners. He plans to continue volunteering within the community frequently after high school. Apart from this, Dakotah also maintains a part-time job on weekends and holds a few clients for lawn care services.
As for after high school, Dakotah plans to attend Robert Morris University and enroll in the honors program to pursue a career in business administration or mechanical engineering as well as join the recreational soccer team.

Savannah Weslyn Dulaney is a 17-year-old member of Oak Glen’s Class of 2024. She resides with her parents Faith and Troy Dulaney in New Cumberland, WV.
Savannah is a flutist in Oak Glen’s marching and concert bands and the recorder ensemble. Savannah has a vast band résumé. She has played in three West Virginia High School Region 1 Honor Bands and attended the West Virginia Region 1 Solo and Ensemble, earning an excellent rating. She earned a varsity letter in her sophomore and junior years and was named the Most Outstanding Sophomore and Junior in the OGHS band. In addition, Savannah has participated in The West Liberty Honor Band, The West Liberty University Winds, and The West Virginia Army National Guard Master Classes and Band.
Savanah also is a member of Oak Glen’s Little Theater productions, operating the lights for seven shows. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Prom Committee, Culture Club and the Judicial Scholars. As a sophomore, Savannah attended West Virginia Governor’s School of Arts and was a member of the Weirton Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership Program.
Savannah earned a 4.5 GPA for the first semester of her senior year with a cumulative 4.06 GPA. Academic honors include an academic excellence award for her distinguished SAT scores and the West Virginia Promise Scholarship.
After high school, Savannah will enroll in West Virginia University for Forensic Biology in the Fall of 2024. She plans on participating in WVU’s concert band.

Aiden Flowers, an 18-year-old senior at Oak Glen High School, is the January Lions Club Scholar of the Month for Oak Glen High School. He is the son of Richard and Erica Flowers.
Aiden has been active in many school and community organizations including Everyday Church, Next Steps Missions, FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes), National Honor Society, and Key Club. His high school accolades include being a member of the Oak Glen Prom Court and Sadie’s Court, receiving the Scholar-Athlete of the Week Award, and the Academic Excellence Award for his distinguished SAT score in English/Language Arts.
Aiden earned the West Virginia Promise Scholarship and has been recognized on the Principal’s Honor Roll with a 3.92 GPA. He is a four-year letter winner in football and a two-year letter winner in track and field. Football awards and recognitions have been First Team OVAC 2021 and 2023, All-Area Defensive Player, and All-State Honorable Mention 2021 and 2023. In addition, Aiden was awarded the “Dennis Huff Award” as a senior and named the Defensive MVP in 2021 and 2023, and the Offensive MVP in 2023. Also, he was named to an OVAC Honorable Mention for 2022. As a freshman Aiden was awarded the “Doug Smith Award” and finished as a WV State Champion as a member of Oak Glen’s shuttle relay team.
After high school, Aiden plans to attend West Virginia Northern Community College in hopes of pursuing a career as a registered nurse.

Hannah Jo Kliner, 18, daughter of Brian and Julie Kliner of Chester, W.Va., has been chosen as Oak Glen High School Lions Club Scholar for December 2023.
During Hannah’s time at Oak Glen High School, Hannah has been involved in various sports, clubs, and extracurricular activities. Hannah is a three-year letter winner in both cross country and track and field. She has been awarded four-time First Team All OVAC Conference, four OVAC Champion titles, four WV Regional Champion titles, two-time WV All-State titles, and has won the 2023 WV Cross Country title of Runner-Up.
Hannah holds a high standing at OGHS being on the Principal’s Honor Roll every year and being an active member of the National Honors Society, Key Club, Prom Committee, Student Council, and Pep Club. Hannah was elected her senior class vice president, served on the senior class homecoming court, was elected to the junior prom court in 2023, and was chosen to partake in the Weirton Chamber of Commerce youth leadership program her sophomore year. Hannah was also selected by The American Legion Post 121 Ladies Auxiliary to represent them at the 2023 Rhododendron Girl’s State held at Davis and Elkins College in June of 2023.
Within the community, Hannah is an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she serves as an altar server and has been involved in the CCD program and Food Pantry. She volunteers with community activities and clean-up tasks alongside working with the youth track programs during her summer.
Following graduation, Hannah plans to continue her education and further her running career at a currently undecided college.

Tyler McKay, 17, has been recognized as Oak Glen High School’s Lions Scholar of the Month for November 2023. Tyler is the son of Tony and Rachel Wright-McKay of Chester.
A senior at Oak Glen High School, Tyler carries a 4.2 GPA and is involved in many sports, clubs, and extracurricular activities. Tyler is a three-year letter-winner in baseball and a letter-winner in soccer. In 2023, Tyler was a WV AA Section Champion and Regional Finalist in baseball. Throughout high school, Tyler has been on the Principal’s Honor Roll every year.
Tyler is an active member of the National Honor Society and is currently vice president of the Oak Glen chapter. Tyler was recently recognized as “Distinguished” in both Math & English/Language Arts by Hancock County Schools. In 2022, Tyler was selected by the American Legion Post 121 to attend the American Legion Mountaineer Boys State held at WVU Jackson’s Mill. Tyler was also voted as a member of the Prom Court during his junior year. In 2020, Tyler won the West Virginia Golden Horseshoe Award.
Tyler is also a member of the Key Club, Prom Committee, and WV Judicial Scholars Club. During his free time, Tyler enjoys volunteering with youth sports programs and giving back to the community.
Following graduation, Tyler plans to study computer science and is undecided on which university he will attend.

Alana Reese Adkins, 18, daughter of Charles and Tabitha Adkins of 4584 Wylie Ridge Road, New Cumberland WV has been chosen as the Oak Glen High School Lion’s Club Scholar of the Month for October 2023.
During Alana’s time at Oak Glen High School, she was chosen for the Weirton Chamber of Commerce Youth Leadership program as a sophomore, attended West Virginia University’s Forensic Science Camp as a junior, was selected to attend the CJIS FBI Teen Academy, and is a part of the Judicial Scholars Program her senior year.
Alana has been a member of the Oak Glen High School Marching Band for all four years, playing the flute until her senior year where she plays the piccolo and has lettered her past two years. She is also a member of the concert band where she plays the flute. She was a member of the Region One Honor Band in her junior year. Alana has been a member of the Oak Glen Swim Team since her sophomore year and has lettered both years. She has also been a member of the Oak Glen Theater since her sophomore year where takes on a leadership role and helps to design and create the set.
Alana is the Executive President of Student Council where she works to better the school and the community. She is a member of the Recorder Ensemble, Science Club, Chess Club, Culture Club, Prom Committee, and National Honors Society.
After High School, Alana is attending West Virginia University where she will be studying Forensic Chemistry.
Avery Joanne Hall, 17, daughter of Shawn and Natalie Hall of 309 Third St. Chester, W.Va., has been chosen as Oak Glen High School Lions Club Scholar of the Month for September 2023.
During Avery’s time at Oak Glen High School, she has been a part of the 2021 and 2022 Oak Glen softball teams, lettering her freshmen year. She was part of the 2020 and 2021 Oak Glen junior volleyball and girls' basketball teams. She has been a part of the Pep Club, Key Club, and Culture Club all four years of high school.
Avery was chosen as a sophomore for the Weirton Chamber of Commerce youth leadership program. She was elected class president in her freshmen, sophomore, and junior years and chosen as Student Council vice president her senior year. She has served on the homecoming court in her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She was a member of the prom committee during her junior and senior years and was elected to the junior prom court in 2023.
Avery is also a member of Oak Glen’s Little Theater, appearing in “Miracle on 34th Street,” “Mary Poppins,” “Annie,” “Charlotte’s Web,” “Dracula,” “The Addams Family,” and in November she will be starring in “Little Women” as Jo March. She attends Westminster Presbyterian Church and is a part of their youth group. She helps at Allen T. Allison Elementary School for after-school parent involvement activities with her mother and gives back to her community by decorating or cleaning up at local establishments during the holiday seasons.
